Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how RMBL ("RMBL", "we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the RMBL mobile and web applications (the "App"). RMBL is a community messaging application designed around privacy. We collect the minimum amount of data required to operate the service.
1. Who is the data controller
RMBL is built so that communities can run their own servers. When you use a self-hosted RMBL server, the operator of that server is the controller of your data, and this Policy describes the baseline behavior of the software. 2. Information we collect
- Account information. A username and the credentials required to authenticate you. We do not require your real name or phone number.
- Content you create. Messages, media, reactions, and other content you send. This is stored only to deliver it to the intended recipients and is kept on the server you connect to.
- Technical data. Basic connection metadata (such as device type, app version, and IP address) used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
- Support communications. If you email us, we keep the message and your contact details to respond to your request.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To deliver your messages and media to the people you choose.
- To detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or security issues.
- To respond to your support requests and legal obligations.
4. Permissions on your device
The App may request access to your camera, microphone, photo library, and notifications. These permissions are used only to provide the related feature (for example, sending a photo or receiving a message) and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
5. Sharing of information
We share information only with: (a) other users you communicate with, as part of the messaging features; (b) infrastructure providers that host or deliver the service on our behalf; and (c) authorities when required by applicable law. We do not share your content with advertisers.
6. Data retention
Your content remains stored on the server you use until you or the server operator delete it. You can delete your messages and your account; when an account is deleted, associated personal data is removed from active systems within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements.
7. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information against unauthorized access.
8. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age required by your jurisdiction (at least 13, or higher where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us so we can remove it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@rmbl.chat.
10. International transfers
Depending on the server you connect to, your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
